There have been new developments at the construction site of the new Hy-Vee, Incorporated location in Jefferson.
Last week, construction crews started installing prefabricated concrete walls for the 34,000-square foot facility on Washington Street.
Director of Media Relations Tara Deering-Hansen says their new location will be a 24-hour facility with a full-service restaurant with an outdoor dining option and bar, a hot food bar with barbecue, hot Asian and Italian food department, a salad and cold foods bar, a bakery, a delicatessen station with fresh sliced meats and specialty cheeses, fresh and frozen seafood, a meat department, wine and spirits department and a full-service pharmacy with a drive-up lane. It will also create 150 jobs for the local economy.
Deering-Hansen states that there is also a 7,500-square foot clinic that is attached to their site in addition to the 34,00-square foot building. Even though she couldn’t confirm what entity will be in that space, she acknowledged that at their other locations, a private clinic company operates the space that it attached to their facilities.
The total cost of the construction project is $8 million.
She anticipates the new location to be completed by sometime late winter or early 2015.
