ADM volleyball head coach Mary Beth Scott told Raccoon Valley Radio last week that she doesn’t concern herself with win-loss records at tournaments, instead focusing on whether or not her team is playing good volleyball.

The Tigers did just that on Saturday at the Dubuque invitational. In pool play, ADM, one of the smallest Class-4A schools, beat Class-5A Muscatine 21-9, 21-19, and fellow 4A school Cedar Rapids-Xavier 21-10, 21-17. ADM then lost to the No. 1-ranked 5A school, Bettendorf, 21-14, 21-13.

The 2-1 record in pool play was good enough to get the Tigers a No. 4-seed in the championship bracket. The Tigers day then ended in the first round of the championship bracket, as they fell to Iowa City High 21-8, 21-15.

Scott said last week she would have been happy with a spot in the consolation bracket, and said her team enjoyed a “good day” on Saturday in Dubuque.

ADM next hits the hardwood on Tuesday, when they host Raccoon River Conference rival Winterset. The 12th-ranked Tigers are 17-8 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
