Greene County won a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball game in Colfax vs. Colfax-Mingo Thursday night in three sets. Scores were 25-12, 25-14, 25-15, and the win moved the Rams to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference. Coach Donna Carhill’s team is now 21-19 in sets for the season and the Rams next action is another HOIAC game, this time in Des Moines vs. Saydel on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Of the action in Colfax, Coach Carhill said, “This has been a long week for the entire team with a weekend tournament (Sept. 20) and two long-distance matches (at Monroe Sept. 23, at Colfax Sept. 25). The entire team played solid ball and the win was a total team effort.”

The Rams served the ball well vs. the Tigerhawks with Tressa Rasmussen 21-21 with three aces; Mollie Sorber 20-21, four aces; Stacy Mears 14-16, 3 aces. Sorber had 14 assists and seven digs while Bailey Godwin added six assists, and Maris Promes had nine digs with four digs by Emma Saddoris. Kayla Mobley led the team in kills with seven, followed by Nicole Kuhl with six kills and Annie Palmer with three.
