Those wanting to help with the battle against hunger are encouraged to join in on the annual CROP walk in Perry this weekend.

This year’s event starts in the north parking lot of the Dallas County Hospital at 1pm Sunday and includes either a two mile walk or a twelve mile bike ride, ending at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church where they can enjoy food and music.

Last year’s event around 130 CROP walkers raised more than $6,500 and the hope is that this year’s event will be even more successful.

Participants are asked to bring at least one nonperishable food item or the local food pantry.
