Midwest Partnership’s executive director Chad Schreck is back to square one with the Cargill facility in Panora.
The 28,000-square foot building was once used as an egg production plant, but it has been vacant for some time. Schreck states that there is about 10,000-plus square-feet in production space and another 6,000-square feet in office space.
He comments that in the last couple of years, the office space has been updated and it includes a break room, kitchen and lab areas. The production floor has concrete floors and 20-foot ceilings. Even though it is a food grade rated facility, Schreck adds that it can be tailored to whatever the potential buyer’s needs are.
He points out that there is financing help available in the forms of grants and loans. Schreck talks about a $300,000 loan through Region XII Council of Governments that has a 2.5% interest rate for up to 50% of the total remodeled project.
“So if someone is going to buy the building and have to do an upgrade and equipment and things like that, we could go up to half that project or $300,000 whichever is less.”
He plans on having new marketing strategies for potential buyers ready within the next couple of weeks.
