The Perry offensive line showed the ability to move the football Friday night in the narrow loss to ADM. The Bluejays wanted to strive for a balanced offensive attack this year under the guidance of Will Whiton. Perry passed for 209 yards and ran the ball for only 122 yards on 39 attempts. Whiton completed 9-27 passes for 209 yards and 2 interceptions. The senior also carried the ball 27 times for 100 yards.
“We know we have a very effective quarterback in place that provides a multiple dimension look for opposing defenses. He has the ability to run the ball and pass the ball and we want him to have that decision making,” stated Assistant Coach Jim Richmond. “Our line has worked really hard the past couple of years getting the proper schemes down so we can be a well balanced team.”
The Jays will celebrate the home opener Friday night with North Polk.
