A deputy while on routine patrol investigated an unoccupied vehicle on Highway 30 near R Avenue. A 24 hour removal tag was placed on the vehicle.

A deputy was advised of a downed power line at Grant and State Street in Scranton.  The power company was advised of the downed line.

Four members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, three Iowa State Patrol Officers, Grand Junction Fire and Rescue, the Jefferson Fire Department and personnel from the Greene County Emergency Medical Services all responded to a two vehicle accident on the overpass bridge on Highway 30 just east of Grand Junction. Killed in the accident was Daniel Reetz 27, of Boone, Iowa. Reetz was alone in his vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was Lombardo Ramos and his family from Oskaloosa, Iowa. Ramos, his wife and three children were all transported to the Greene County Medical Center for further evaluation. The accident was investigated by the Iowa Highway Patrol.

A deputy was unable to locate a reported erratic and careless driver on Highway 30 eastbound from Scranton.

A deputy is investigating the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 1000 block of Linn Street in Scranton.

A deputy was dispatched to Division Street and 18th Street in Grand Junction to investigate a reported suspicious vehicle and occupant. The deputy located the male subject and checked his identity. The male agreed to leave the area.

The Union Pacific Railroad advised the sheriff’s office of three people trespassing on the railroad right of way at Jordan Avenue and 237th Street. The deputy was not able to locate the three subjects.

Tuesday, September 2nd

A deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle on Highway 30 West of R Avenue. A 24 hour removal tag was placed on the vehicle.

A deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of North 13th Street in Grand Junction to investigate a burglary and theft of personal property.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson Police Department assisted DNR Conservation Officers with trying to locate an off road dirt bike that was driving on lawns and through farm fields.

A deputy communicated with a Scranton resident in the 1000 block of Cedar Street about a harassment concern.

A deputy and the Rippey Fire Department responded to a fire call at the Dallas County Landfill in the 2400 block of 337th Street. The flames were determined to be a controlled methane burn at the landfill.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
