How do the Guthrie County Assessor and appraisers actually come up with the value of your home? According to Guthrie County Assessor Rusty Pearson, it has to be site inspected,
“We don’t just make things up. We go out to people’s homes. When we go to someone’s home, we’re doing our job and assessing the property. What that entails is measuring, inspecting, taking photographs and basically reviewing the property to come up with the value for that home. We are there for a particular purpose and that purpose is to make sure it’s accurate.”
Pearson reminds everyone that you can actually search your home to make sure that it is accurate by using their new website. Under your search engine enter Beacon Guthrie County Iowa and if there is an error, you will need to contact them.
The main concern for the Assessor’s office is the value of your property not taxes.
