ADM returns six starters

Yesterday, the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn volleyball team held its media day which means the first set of matches for the fall season is right around the corner.

Head coach Mary Beth Scott returns six starters from last year’s Raccoon River Conference champion squad.  Senior Abby Mershman says losing four players from last year’s team will be tough, but she believes they have the right pieces in place to make another run at the conference crown.

“She actually have some really good hitters coming back in; I would say they’re just as good as our hitters from last year.  We’re more worried about back row, we lost a lot of our back row losing Maddie Powers last year.  But we’ve filled it pretty well with our freshman, she’s doing pretty good so I would say our hitters are definitely turning it on.”

The freshman that’s taken the place of last year’s senior libero and team leader in digs with 399 is Jordan Hook.  The Tigers also lose their top three hitters in Torrie Hook, Haley Schepers and Allison Gottschalk.

ADM begins its season next Tuesday with a tournament in Newton.
