Greene County held its annual Football Media Day on Thursday at Linduska Field in Jefferson. Head Coach Dean Lansman and staff have nearly 70 boys out for the sport in grades nine through 12. The coach is starting his fourth season as the lone head coach of the Rams. The 2014 squad is one with a lot of experienced players back from the 2013 squad that went 5-5 overall as a Class 2A program. Greene County moves up a class to 3A this season and is in the same district at Algona, Boone, Carroll, Humboldt, Perry, and Webster City. Non-district games are against South Central Calhoun (Lake City), Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), and Creston/Orient-Macksburg. There are five home dates and four away from Jefferson on the 2014 schedule. In addition, the Rams will have an exhibition scrimmage at Linduska Field on Friday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. vs. Panorama (Panora).
