The major thing underway right now is all the façade grant improvements going on in Guthrie Center. With a total of 16 businesses that participated things are just a bit of a mess but will be worth it.
According to Guthrie Center Mayor Denny Kunkle, “If you are coming downtown Guthrie Center we are kind of in a little mess right now with the façade grant improvement. Got off to a really slow start as far as any construction type work being done but in the last two weeks they’ve been here every day and they are starting the process of refurbishing the fronts of the buildings. So it’s kind of interesting to watch the progress there and what all’s been going on.”
Also according to Mayor Kunkle, one of the main goals when it comes to economic restructuring is to get all the groups as one group so that everyone can combine their resources due to the fact that everyone is working toward the same goal which is to improve downtown and the community as well as creating jobs.
Just a couple reminders from Mayor Kunkle and that is to watch out for kids with school starting back in Guthrie Center August 18th and spend money locally to make a difference.
Don’t forget the Guthrie County Fair starts the 28th and has been going on now over 100 years.
