It was another typical Perry Baseball season and a high number of sacrifice bunts laid down throughout the course of the year.
Mike Long is relished in his 37 years relying on small ball, and this year’s team was no exception executing more times than not with the perfect bunt ultimately leading to Bluejay runs. Perry had 28 sacrifices throughout the course of the year and one defense in particular was designed to slow down Perry.
“The biggest compliment that I think I’ve had so far in all my coaching years is that the Ballard coach says that Perry bunts probably better than anybody in the whole nation. So we aren’t going to just stand there and let them do it we’re going to try do something, and by moving players around it gets your kids thinking ‘Oh my gosh I can’t do this now’ and you can’t think that way. If we get the bunt down and we get a good jump off third base we’re going to score on it” says Perry High School Baseball Coach Mike Long.
