safety camp graduatesYesterday, 14 Greene County youth entering kindergarten this fall recently graduated from a safety camp at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.

Director Vicky Lautner says various speakers and topics were covered about safety including bus, bicycle, car, electrical, pool, drugs and alcohol, stranger, railroad, fire, telephone and animal safety.

The participants included nine from Jefferson with Brinda Brown, Leah Campbell, Bo Chapman, Makenna Dzuris, Mason Dzuris, Henry McGinn, Sara Morlan, Sean Murphy, Lincoln Schwander and Zack Stalder, two from Paton with Austin Maach and Maggie Reed and one person from Scranton and Grand Junction with Daniel Jordan and Savannah Lansman respectively.

Lautner points out that she’s thankful to have such willing speakers from the police and fire departments to the Mayor and other people come in to tell kids at an early age all about safety.

She also thanks the Jefferson Elk’s Lodge for sponsoring the free event for a second consecutive year and hopes to continue that partnership for years to come.
