ADMThe ADM softball team saw its 2014 season come to an end in the regional finals at Winterset Monday night, as the Tigers lost to Clarke of Osceola 4-3 in an instant classic.

With the season now complete, let’s get you a statistical review of where ADM finished up as a team and where some Tigers finished up individually.

Rick Dillinger’s club went 25-11 and 8-6 in the Raccoon River Conference in his first year as head coach.  ADM fell just a game shy of qualifying for the state tournament for the first time since 2008.

Ace pitcher Molly Jacobsen ended her season with a tough loss against Clarke, but what a year the young sophomore had.  She had 330 strikeouts against just 60 walks in 238 innings pitched. Jacobsen’s season earned run average ends at a miniscule 1.91.

Offensively, senior center fielder Jessica Wyant ended the year as the top Tigers’ hitter in terms of batting average.  She hit .389, and also led the Tigers with 44 hits in 2014.

Senior captain Caitlyn Gruening was ADM’s top run-producer as she drove in 23 runs on the season.  Taylor Boorn and Montanna Popp ended the season tied for the team lead in home runs with three apiece.

While Jacobsen and starting shortstop Kenzi Sutton do headline those returning for Rick Dillinger next season, the Tigers will have to replace departing senior starters Jessica Wyant, Caitlyn Gruening, Hannah Tiffany, and Amanda Seiler, as well as reserve Jo Tigges.
