With Midwest Partnership set to release its new entrepreneurship plan for its four-county region encompassing Guthrie County, Scranton Manufacturing going through a big expansion and Greene County recently breaking ground on its new casino project, business development opportunity is out there in the local area.
Midwest Partnership Executive Director Chad Schreck describes for us what it’s been like to be part of this momentous wave of small business growth.
“We’ve been incredibly fortunate because there has been really a ground swell of support and excitement for a lot of initiatives lately. It’s great to be a part of it–great to work with so many excited people. It’s been a lot of fun, and I’m just really blessed and fortunate to be involved.”
Much buzz and excitement in the area right now does stem from the recent casino groundbreaking up in Jefferson, and Schreck says he’s glad Guthrie County made a concerted effort to support it.
“Cliff Carney, one of our Supervisors came up and gave some really good explanations and approaches for why it was going to be a big thing for Guthrie County. I think it will be one of those deals that can really impact on a broad level. You look at the job creation, the $40 million investment right up front, $1.5 million getting donated to local charities, and then $300,000 to contiguous counties… It’s just a snowball effect that we need to keep planning for and try to capitalize on as much as we can.”
