At yesterday’s Greene County Supervisors meeting, the Board decided against using Louis Dreyfus Funds to help pay for part of Scranton Manufacturing’s expansion project.

It was discussed at last week’s meeting that the Board would commit $10,000 toward the project through Greene County Development Corporation for the 56,000-square foot expansion for the garbage truck manufacturer facility.  The funds for the project were determined to come from the Louis Dreyfus Fund.

However on Monday, the Board decided to not use Louis Dreyfus Funds for that kind of an expense.

Chair John Muir said the Board typically uses Louis Dreyfus money for non-profit projects, not for private, for-profit businesses.  But there is no stipulation in the guidelines for the funds, just however the County Supervisors see fit to use the money.

Muir comments that they are still committed to the project.

“We totally support what they’re doing at Scranton Manufacturing and we said we’d help and we’re going to.  We’ll get the money, that will happen but where we’re going to get it from is what we’re going to determine later.”

One possibility is using money from the general fund.

The Supervisors did approve their commitment of $10,000 to the project with the source of funds to be determined at a later date.

Scranton Manufacturing began it’s 20-plus acre expansion following their groundbreaking ceremony on June 25th.
