The ADM softball team will look to continue its playoff run tonight, as the Tigers take on Atlantic in Class 3A’s Region 8 semifinal in Adel.
We heard from head coach Rick Dillinger yesterday as he spoke to the need for his club to play better defensively in tonight’s playoff matchup, but coming off an inconsistent offensive ballgame against West Central Valley, he also wants his girls to perform more to their capabilities with the bats as well.
Here is Coach Dillinger now on how important he believes jumping out to an early lead will be tonight against the Trojans.
“It’s quite important to be honest. Statistically you look at a team that scores first, most of the time they win the ballgame. We’re going to have to hit the ball a little better (tonight).”
Entering tonight’s regional semifinal, Atlantic is 18-19 overall, and while the Trojans are a quality hitting club as we reported yesterday, they don’t have the best pitching numbers.
ADM could face either Ally Anderson or Tori Bruck this evening. Anderson has a 3.31 ERA, while Bruck’s ERA is over 5.00.
Whoever the Tigers face, they will have the upperhand in tonight’s pitching matchup with Molly Jacobsen in the circle. Jacobsen now sports an ERA that has dipped below 2.00.
We’ll have tonight’s ballgame on K107 and the Raccoon Valley Radio Network. First pitch is scheduled for 7 o’clock and pregame begins at 6:45.
