The Winterset Huskies moved into first place in the Raccoon River Conference Monday night defeating Perry by a final score of 3-2.  A bases loaded walk to Andy Lambert in the bottom of the 7th inning forced in the winning run for the Huskies.  The loss snapped a nine game winning streak by Perry.  The Huskies are now 6-2 in RRC action while Perry falls to 5-3.  The following is a scoring recap and official box score.  Perry will return to action Wednesday night with a trip to Merchants Park in Carroll for a matchup with the Tigers.  Shawn Kenney will have the play by play on 1310 AM.

Winterset scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4^th—an infield single and then on a base hit to right field that the Bluejays made a bad throw on allowing the runner to get to 2^nd.  The next batter hit a ground ball to third but a bad throw to first base allowed both runners to score.  2-0 Winterset.

Perry tied the game in the top of the 5^th.  Ellett got his 2^nd single of the night then scored on Will Whiton’ s double to the center field fence.  Whiton stole 3^rd then scored on a dropped third strike to make the game 2-2.

Top of the 7^th-Whiton beat out an infield single, stole 2^nd and got to third on Michael Lansing’s ground out, but Wilhelmi grounded out to end the threat.

Bottom of 7^th-Winterset loaded the bases with a fielder’s choice, a base hit that was lost in the lights, followed by an error.  After a strikeout, Andy Lambert walked on a 3-2 pitch to force in the winning run.

Ellett went the distance—

6 hits, only one of the 3 runs earned.  He walked 2 and struck 3 (2-1).  Winner was Colton Patterson—he went the distance.  9 hits, 1 earned run, walked 3 and struck out 10.

Whiton 3 hits (double) 2 SBs, Ellett 2 singles, Wilhelmi 2 hits (double), Roberts a base hit, Adan Medina a base hit.

Perry now 15-4, 5-3.  Winterset is 11-4, 6-2.
