We began our conversation about Yale’s 4th of July Celebration last Friday, but it continues again today.
We learned from event coordinator and Yale Community Club member Scott Frederickson that the Kenaston Family Band will open up festivities on Thursday evening, July 3rd, but as we transition to Friday the 4th, Frederickson says the big draw will again be the parade.
“Since I’m the parade chairman, you obviously cannot miss the parade because it’s always very good. (The parade) is going to be on the normal route through town. We’ll have 100-120 entries and that is always well attended. We encourage everybody to get to Yale for that. Bring your chair and it should be a good time.”
When asked what he’d recommend a Guthrie County resident do at Yale’s 4th of July Celebration if they only had time to attend a single activity, Frederickson’s answer: stick around and do it all.
“You might as well go ride your bike, then come have an omelet, check out a few things, attend the parade and have a pork loin dinner. Then watch the bathtub races, throw some fireworks and sit and watch the fireworks… and you know, the kids can go around and do their thing in between.”
Frederickson will run through the full schedule of events for Yale’s 4th of July Celebration during today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County. That program airs as usual during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on K107.
