The Greene County Medical Center’s Board of Trustees voted last week to terminate its lease agreement with McFarland Clinic.
This decision follows the Board’s approval of an agreement with UnityPoint Clinic made at last month’s meeting.
The decision to establish UnityPoint Clinic is a part of the medical center’s strategic plan to ensure health care providers and coordinated health care services are available in the County.
Board Chair Jim Schleisman says it’s imperative for the medical center to build a network of health care providers and services that can serve the community as it grows.
Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne adds that by having this new partnership with UnityPoint Clinic, it will help to better serve patients and the community. He points out that the key is having access to resources and services close to where people live is integral to a healthy and growing community.
The one-year lease cancellation notice will allow for adequate transition time for UnityPoint Clinic to establish providers in Jefferson, which is currently underway.
