A Grand Junction man faces a felony domestic abuse charge by the Greene County Sheriff’s office.

At 9:27pm on Saturday, Sheriff Steve Haupert says a deputy responded to a possible domestic assault call in the 800 block of Percival Street in Grand Junction.

Following an investigation, 45 year-old Christopher Adelbert Laurent was arrested and is accused of a Class D Felony for domestic abuse assault on his wife, a serious misdemeanor for false imprisonment and a simple misdemeanor for obstruction of emergency communications for allegedly smashing a cell phone that he thought his wife was using to call law enforcement with.

Jail Administrator Karen White says Laurent is still in jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond.

According to Iowa Courts Online, Laurent has been convicted twice of domestic abuse charges.
