The Dallas County Conservation Board is hosting another Adult Wilderness Trek in 2015 and there’s an event coming up next month to show potential participants what it will be like.
The Try the Wilds on for Size, One Small Step for Wilderness program takes place Wednesday, July 9th from 7-9pm at the Kuehn Conservation Area and Beak Creek Nature Center.
During the program, participants will have the opportunity to check out some backpacking gear the conservation board has available to loan to trekkers. Attendees will size up a pack, set up a tent, light a cook stove and sample some backpacking type foods.
The group will then walk about the trails of the conservation area before setting up a camp fire and talking more about the Selway-Bitterroot trek in 2015.
Anyone interested in taking part is required to sign up in advance by calling 465-3577.
