Greene County improved to 3-1 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball with a 4-0 win over Colfax-Mingo on Monday night in Jefferson. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are 4-3 overall while C-M fell to 2-1 in the conference and 3-2 overall.
Junior Marissa Promes pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks. The Rams had eight hits with junior Kayla Mobley collecting a double and single and two singles for both sophomores Sydney Koch and Carleigh Paup. Juniors Hannah Onken and Tressa Ramussen added base hits. There were no runs batted in during the contest as the Rams had one error while the Tigerhawks committed four errors.
The Rams had two runs in the second inning with single runs in the fourth and fifth.
Greene County goes to Lytton tonight to face non-conference opponent South Central Calhoun (Lake City) before returning home on Wednesday night vs. CMB (Maxwell) in HOIAC action on KG98 at 7:30 p.m.
