Dallas County Hospital has announced the recipient of their 2014 Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing.
Registered Nurse Barb Welch began her career at Dallas County Hospital in 1979 and over the past 35 years she has been known as someone who is caring, calm, knowledgeable and willing to teach others.
Chief Clinical Officer Donna Vandehaar says she’s so proud of Barb and the expertise, compassion and dedication she displays daily at the hospital. “From assisting in the delivery of a baby in the emergency room, to holding the hand of an elderly patient as they pass away, Barb provides caring, kindness and exceptional care to each and every patient she comes in contact with” says Vandehaar, who adds that she’s truly an inspiration to nurses everywhere.
Doctors, employees, patients and families were all invited to nominate a nurse for the annual Daisy award, in addition to being recognized during Nurses Week in May, Welch will also be honored at a Mercy Network Luncheon this month.
