All Jefferson area 6th-12th grade students are invited to sign up for this year’s teen summer reading program at the Jefferson Public Library.
Library Director Jane Millard says the theme for the teens is “Spark A Reaction” which correlates to the kids summer reading program relating to science.
She hints at some of the different activities that the teens will learn about during the summer.
“We’re going to study grossology, slimology, robots, magic, inventions and we’re even going to have solar car races, moot pyramids and blow up books. We’ll look into clouds and lightning tornadoes and even fire.”
Millard talks about that while summer break from school is nice, students still need to keep their minds sharp.
“They need to keep their minds energized. They can take part as much or as little as they want in the programs. But whatever they do, at the end, they get a reward plus they’ve had a great time, they’ve met new friends and they get to go back to school with their minds still ready to go.”
The teen program starts in early June and ends in the first part of August.
