The Greene County and PCM softball teams have each claimed a share of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference title in 2012 and 2013. Both are expected to contend again this year and the first of two regular season meetings is later today in Monroe. The schedule has changed and there will be just a varsity contest at 5:30 p.m. No JV game will be played.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are 2-0 overall and 2-0 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play with wins over Saydel (Des Moines), 11-2, and Roland-Story (Story City), 5-1. Both contests were in Jefferson. PCM is also 2-0 and the Mustangs have yet to surrender a run as they opened the season with a 3-0 victory at Nevada, then blanked Gilbert 9-0.
