West Central Valley WildcatWhile there might have been some headache the past few months in relation to the district’s new athletic complex, West Central Valley Superintendent Dr. David Arnold says 2013-14 was actually a “banner year” for his schools.

Citing both academic and athletic achievement, Arnold reflects on how this year was so successful for West Central Valley.

“I think it’s a lot of hard work on the staff’s part, making sure we have the right curriculum, and the kids are then willing to do the tough things.  They score well, they take their tests well, and that takes a lot of practice and commitment on the part of the staff… they make sure our kids have the best shot possible.”

Arnold says he hopes to see his district’s academic success continue to trend upward in the years ahead. Thus, with students officially away from school for summer, he provides them with a bit of advice.

“The best thing is put the computer down–especially the games–and read a book, several books in fact.  They need to keep their minds working and that thought process going throughout the summer months.  Also, get outside and enjoy nature.”

To hear more from Dr. Arnold as he recaps the 2013-14 West Central Valley school year in full detail, tune-in to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County on K107 during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours.
