As spring starts to turn into summer, Jefferson residents are reminded of the City’s golf cart ordinance.
Police Chief Dave Morlan says golf carts are permitted on city streets and alleys and only if they have a slow-moving vehicle sign and orange safety flag displayed.
He adds that the driver must be at least 16 years-old and have a valid driver’s license along with proof of financial liability coverage.
Any passengers must not exceed the number of seats that a golf cart has and can not be driven on primary road extensions such as Highway 4.
Morlan notes that golf carts are only allowed to be driven from sunrise to sunset and anyone found operating a golf cart at night may be issued a citation.
