The Jefferson Police Department would like to remind everyone that the next Special Traffic Enforcement Program starts next week.
From May 19th through June 1st., law enforcement agencies in the state, along with the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau will be increasing patrol for better safety while on the roads during the Memorial Day holiday.
It is state law that motorists wear seat belts and not to drive while under the influence of alcohol. Motorists are also encouraged to drive free from distractions like texting while driving.
Greene County Deputy Dave Kersey points out that they will be conducting another time period of random vehicle stops to ensure road safety with vehicles and drivers.
Police Chief Dave Morlan reminds everyone that they incorporate everything about the sTEP into their everyday routines when they are on patrol and he urges everyone to obey traffic laws at all times to keep everyone safe while on the road.
