A notice to Jefferson residents about the City’s ordinance about mowing grass.
City Building Inspector and Code Enforcer Tom Heater says it is against the City’s ordinance for any property owner to allow their grass to get above eight-inches in length.
He states that if grass gets above this length with no attempt to mow it, then the City will mow it and bill the property owner a rate of $130 per hour with a one-hour minimum charge.
Heater adds that a property owner will be served a notice letter as warning for the year and if you continue to violate the ordinance, then the City has the right to assess costs without further notification.
Residents are also reminded not to blow grass clippings into the street or onto other people’s property.
