The girls’ golfers from Greene County High School are set to conclude their regular season today vs. North Polk (Alleman) at the TCI Course near Polk City at 4 p.m. The Rams will have the rest of the week to prepare for a Class 3A District tournament on May 19 at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club. In addition to the Rams and the host Trojanns, teams included are: Clarinda, Clarke (Osceola), North Polk (Alleman), Red Oak, Shenandoah, and West Central Valley (Stuart).
The Greene County boys concluded their regular season last Friday at the Ames Golf & Country Club. Will Meinecke shot a personal best 44 for nine holes and Caleb McKim shot 45, his personal best, but the Rams were fourth in the four-team event. Bryce Burkhardt had a 53 and Wesley Tipton 56 to round out the Rams’ scoring. Gilbert shot 150 with PCM (Monroe) at 156, and Roland-Story 159. Greene County totaled 198 strokes.
The Greene County boys travel to Atlantic on May 16 for a Class 3A Sectional tournament at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club at 9 a.m. Other teams involved include Atlantic, ADM (Adel), Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Glenwood, Harlan, and Shenandoah.
Atlantic is also hosting a Class 3A coed track and field State Qualifying Meet on Thursday, May 15 involving the Rams, so Greene County Spring sports teams all go to Atlantic for postseason competition between 15 and May 19.
