Dallas County Hospital nurse spent part of last weekend in Des Moines as she was honored as one of the best in the state.
Operation room surgical house supervisor Margo Starr made the 2014 list of 100 Great Iowa Nurses. Starr has been a nurse for 15 years now, and has spent her whole career at the Dallas County Hospital.
She says she loves working at the community based hospital and feeling like part of the family among the staff. Starr says she loves that every day is different and there are a lot of rewarding parts of her job.
“We all know, as a nurse it’s all about the patient. So at the end of the day, how did you make that patient feel? It’s ultimately about building trusting relationships not only with that patient but with your community and surrounding communities. So that’s what’s rewarding for me” says Starr.
Starr was nominated for the honor by a co-worker for her contributions to the nursing profession and making choices based on what’s best for her patients.
