There is another area golf tournament coming soon that is now accepting registrations.
The Guthrie Center football program will be hosting its 2nd Annual 4-person Best Shot Golf Benefit at the Guthrie Center Golf Course on Saturday, June 7th, beginning at 10am.
Coach Steve Froehlich says he’s hoping this year’s tournament is as successful as their inaugural event.
“Last year we filled it up with 18 teams and it was a huge success. We made over $2,000 for our football program, which as you know, football probably costs more than any other sport and it’s not even really close. This year we’ve already got 11 teams signed up, but we want to get (registrations) filled up.”
The cost to participate is $50 for golf with a cart. There will be a meal and prizes awarded during the tournament too. Some of the prizes include free tickets to this year’s River Ruckus, a round of golf at Lake Panorama National and football tickets to Iowa vs. UNI this fall.
Coach Froehlich invites area residents to attend the event if they aren’t golfers.
“If you played football and you don’t golf, come out and ride around on the course on a golf cart and have some fun. Hopefully the sun will be out… School will be out for the college kids and high school kids, and a golf tournament is just a great way to start the summer.”
Those interested in registering a team for the tournament can make checks payable to Guthrie Center Football. To sign-up a team, call Coach Froehlich at 641-332-2236.
