The public is invited to the annual Greene County High School music awards and concert in Jefferson next week.

Band Director Becky Greiner says both the concert band and the concert choir will each perform two selections that will also be used when the groups compete at next weekend’s state large group contest in Gilbert.

The concert band will perform “Variations on a Korean Folk Song” and “Brighton Beach” and the concert choir will sing “The Seal Lullaby” and “Zigeunerleben”.

During the event, Greiner adds that they will be handing out letter certificates and participation recognitions along with awards including the Lions Club Arion Award, the Band Director Award, and the Jazz Award to outstanding seniors.  It will also be the last awards concert for retiring music director Marty Brenden.

The free concert will begin at 7:30pm on Tuesday, May 6th in the high school auditorium in Jefferson.
