The Greene County School Board met last night in special session.
The Board approved all administrative and classified staff contracts for the 2014-15 school year. Each staff position will receive a 3.86% increase in pay with the exception of the superintendent’s salary. And each single medical insurance plan would increase from a $500 to a $1,000 deductible. All administrative staff will also receive a three “swing days” that if used during the school year to take off from school would be made up during the summer time.
There are 11 administrative positions including the superintendent and the classified positions include everyone except for bus drivers and teachers.
The Board approved all teacher leadership and compensation positions. Superintendent Tim Christensen said there were four different positions including instructional coach which will have 15 additional days added on to the school year with a compensation pay of $10,000 per position, mentor teachers who will have ten additional working days with $5,000 extra pay, model teachers and curriculum leaders will each have five additional days with $2,000 in compensation pay. There were 26 positions that were all filled.
There were two resignations accepted by the Board for Holly Carter at the middle school and Justin Gitter for junior high football.
The Board also approved to continue to share girls and boys swimming and boys soccer with Boone High School.
Christensen mentioned to the Board that there was 82 kids that signed up for the pre-kindergarten program and 42 three year-olds for a program. A decision will be made about providing a recommended half-free, half-tutition based three year-old program at the next Board meeting.
