The ADM girls track team saw its home relays cancelled yesterday due to the poor weather, and while it would have been nice to race in front of the home crowd, the cancellation sits okay with head coach Bart Mueller.
In fact, he is actually glad that his runners will now have a full week off from competition after an emotionally draining weekend at the Drake Relays.
“I think the girls need a break from the intensity for a week or two here, but that’s all they get. Then they’ve got to get revved up again mentally and get after that conference meet and the state qualifying meet, and these girls will do it. We can’t push hard… we’ll come down a little bit now and they need that, but I do believe they’ll get it going again when they need to for conference and state qualifying during our last stretch run.”
Coach Mueller’s squad was originally slated to run tomorrow at Carlisle but that meet has been taken off the schedule.
The Tigers will have just one meet–next Tuesday at Nevada–before the Raccoon River Conference Meet, which is being held on Saturday, May 10th in Adel.
