golfThe ADM boys golf team continues to string together solid performances, and we’ve got an update on how they’ve fared recently.

In a head-to-head dual meet with rival Dallas Center-Grimes last Thursday, the Tigers defeated the Mustangs by 14 shots at Beaver Creek Golf Course in Grimes.  Brody Boston was meet medalist, shooting a one over-par 37.  His teammate, Joe Vest, shot a 39 to finish as runner-up.

Then this past Saturday, ADM competed in an 18-hole invitational tournament at Perry Golf & Country Club.  The Tigers took home third place as a team with a composite score of 333.  Brody Boston and Joe Vest tied for fifth by each carding an 83.

Head coach Cris Goodale says his squad didn’t play as well as he would have like on Saturday, especially because the blustery winds got inside his players’ psyche.  However, he did takeaway a positive from the Perry tournament.

“The good thing is is it’s going to prepare us for sectionals.  The front half of Atlantic’s course is a lot like Perry’s course… So we don’t play on a whole lot of courses that are the old style country clubs.  I told them, ‘we didn’t play great, but this is a learning experience for you’.”

The ADM boys were supposed to be back on the links Monday night against Carroll, but their match and the girls’ meet were both cancelled. Weather permitting, the boys will take on Boone tomorrow while the girls travel to Woodward-Granger.
