Some residents in the City of Perry are asked to boil their water before using it after a water main break Tuesday morning.
Water Works Superintendent Hank Schmidt issued a precautionary boil water notice for the southwest portion of town. The affected area spans from from West 4th Street to the west edge of town and south of Willis Avenue, including city water service from Warford to Harold Bailey Way.
The boil order was issued after a water main break occurred near the intersection of Willis Avenue and West 5th Street. While the break has been repaired and water lines have been flushed, there is a possibility of discolored water, air, debris and harmful microbes in the water.
Residents are encouraged to boil water for one minute at a rolling boil before using water for drinking and cooking purposes.
The water department is conducting bacteriological samples and Raccoon Valley Radio will let you know when the advisory has been lifted.
Anyone who experiences low water pressure is asked to notify the Water Works Department at 465-2562.
