Sign-ups are now being accepted by the City of Guthrie Center for their annual Clean-Up Day, which will be on Wednesday, June 11th this year.
City Administrator Laura Imerman says this will be the only city-wide clean-up date this coming summer. The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce has decided to move back its garage sales date to July, so Imerman recommends that area residents utilize the clean-up event if they are looking to get rid of old items prior to that July date.
The clean-up is a fundraiser for the Guthrie Center High School baseball team, and those looking to participate are asked to contribute a minimum of $20 to the baseball team’s cause. Players from the team will be sent out on City vehicles throughout the day on June 11 to pick up the unwanted items.
Tags are required for items such as old tires, TVs, monitors and certain appliances. Those tags can be purchased at Guthrie Center City Hall.
Imerman asks town residents not to allow curb “shoppers” for these giveaway items during the fundraiser as all proceeds will go directly to the baseball team.
Area residents looking to have items picked up on Clean-Up Day are asked to sign-up by June 9th. Call Guthrie Center City Hall at 641-332-2190 to register.
