West Central Valley’s impressive group of FFA students is currently in Ames enjoying State Convention, and one of their own will be honored tomorrow as part of the festivities.
Student Body President Jackson Doud is the sole West Central Valley FFAer being awarded his “State Degree” tomorrow, and his advisor, Jessica Hebert, says he’s more than deserving of the honor.
“I’ve had the pleasure of having Jackson for the past four years and the last two years he’s actually served as our President, which doesn’t happen very often. It’s just nice to be able to see him grow, especially working with the freshman and sophomores, really getting them involved by being a positive influence. (He’s) kind of that person that gets the fire lit under some of the underclassmen to really develop their potential. I mean… he just has really been a great asset.
Hebert says West Central Valley FFA will be sad to see Doud leave after this school year comes to an end, but by the same token, she’s also excited to see what he has in store next.
In terms of Doud’s FFA activity, what’s next is pursuing his “American Degree.” Hebert says she and Doud have already put together some plans as he works toward that next honor.
Doud will be one of about 300 individuals from around Iowa receiving their FFA “State Degrees” during tomorrow’s closing ceremonies.
