Friday, April 25th

A deputy was unable to locate a reported erratic and careless driver east of Grand Junction on Highway 30.

A deputy was out of position and unable to respond to a reported careless driver westbound on Highway 30 from Scranton.

A deputy is investigating a trespassing complaint in the 300 block of Main Street in Cooper.

A deputy spoke with the property owner of a residence in the 600 block of Dudley Street in Churdan about a civil issue.

A deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of Grant Street in Scranton and assisted in towing an abandoned vehicle to the impound lot in Jefferson.

A deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of South 11th Street in Grand Junction for a reported domestic assault. After an investigation by the deputy, he subsequently arrested Richard Tuhn, 35 of Grand Junction for Domestic Abuse Assault, D Felony.

A deputy assisted Midland Power Cooperative personnel with helping post a disconnect notice on a residence in the 1500 block of Q Avenue.

A deputy was dispatched and assisted the Scranton Fire Department in helping a male in the 700 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton who had fallen and needed help in getting up. The male was not injured and did not need any further assistance.

A deputy and the Jefferson Fire Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Orchard Avenue for a grass fire that was caused by a live downed power line. A single power line was struck by a planter marker arm that was attempting to unfold in the corner of the field near the electrical service lines. The Midland Power Cooperative was also called to repair the electrical line.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office asked dispatchers at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center for assistance in helping locate a U-Haul truck that was involved in a gas drive off from the Casey’s General Store in Lohrville. The truck was not located by any law enforcement agency in Greene County.

A deputy was dispatched to the 2400 block of Sherwood Avenue for a reported burglary and theft of household items, guns and tools. The theft is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office at this time.

Saturday, April 26th

A deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle just north of Rippey on Highway 144 that had experienced a flat tire.

A deputy while on routine patrol in the 1200 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction stopped and questioned a male and female about their trespassing on private property and the possible criminal mischief to this property in the past. During the questioning of the two subjects, the male fled from the deputy and a foot pursuit ensued.  After a short chase the deputy was able to subdue the assailant. Arrested and transported to the Greene County law enforcement Center was Anthony Charles Kennedy, 32 of Jefferson, where he was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer, a Serious Misdemeanor. Officers from the Jefferson Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol also responded to the scene.

A deputy assisted the Iowa State Patrol with a subject that was resisting arrest on Highway 30 at S Avenue.

A deputy assisted the Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel with helping transport a female from the 900 block of West Lincolnway.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff assisted with a death notification on West State Street in Jefferson.

A deputy was advised of a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of 240th Street. The described vehicle was not located at the time of the deputy’s arrival.

A deputy and the Jefferson Fire Department were dispatched to the 1900 block of Q Avenue for a reported prairie grass fire. The fire was extinguished without incident.

A deputy spoke with a resident in the 400 block of 15th Street in Grand Junction about the violation of a no contact order pertaining to his receiving cell phone calls and text messaging from a female also involved with the protective order.

A deputy spoke with a resident in the 300 block of South 8th Street in Grand Junction about a loud music complaint.

Sunday, April 27th

A deputy assisted a Public Health Care employee with a welfare check on a resident in the 700 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton.

A deputy checked an abandoned vehicle and placed a 24 hour removal tag upon the car on Highway 144 near Rippey.

A deputy was dispatched to the 1900 block of R Avenue to investigate the reported  disappearance of a cell phone from a loaned vehicle.\

A deputy helped resolve a domestic civil dispute in the 1500 block of 120th Street.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer in checking a business in the 200 block of East State Street that was found to have an unlocked back door.

A deputy spoke by phone to a resident in the 500 block of South Wise Street in Paton about his concern over an animal control issue.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all  defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
