We are now just over two months away from the inaugural BaCOON Ride which will make its way through Dallas and Guthrie Counties along the Raccoon River Valley Trail on June 28th.
Perry is setting up to be one of the main party stops along the route and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Wilson says thousands are expected to participate.
“The BaCOON Ride is going to be huge. We’re looking for about 3,000 people that are going to register for this ride. We’re going to set up kind of like the BRR ride, that’s tentatively what we’re going to do, cording off the bars down there in the triangle area. Lots of bacon, lots of fun, total community buy in. I know there’s a handful of entities that want to do petting zoos and pig races and everything else. The goofier the better with this one” says Wilson.
While he’s looking forward to this new, fun event, Wilson says it’s the lasting effects that the local planning committee is striving for.
“Really, why we do these things is to showcase Perry. Get these people to realize that when they come through here on the trail, to come off the trail, get into our community, experience the amenities, stop at the Hotel (Pattee), swing down to Casa (do Oro), whatever it may be. That’s why we’re doing it.”
Registration for the event is $45 if you sign up before May 1st, after that the cost increase by $10. To register CLICK HERE.
