Jefferson’s sorority supporting area children, Beta Tau Delta, recently donated $1,000 to the Greene County High School music department.

Member Carole Custer says both the band director Becky Greiner and vocal director David Heupel were instrumental in bringing the musical group “Five By Design” which featured 1999 Jefferson-Scranton graduate Tanner Taylor and 1969 graduate Jim Oatts.

Greiner appreciates the generosity that they receive through different community donations and talks about what they spent the Beta Tau Delta donation money on.

“Well, we are so blessed with the donations that we get from our community and from people who are just thinking of us outside of Greene County.  This recent donation from Beta Tau Delta was used to purchase an oboe.  So we are grateful for all the donations that we received.”

Greiner points out other items that they have purchased with other donations from the past two years:  two pianos, a bassoon, a euphonium, five timpani, a marimba, bells and marching snare drums.

Last month, the sorority purchased two-year supply of sleep sacks for infants for the Greene County Medical Center.  All donations are from their charity ball fundraiser from last December.

Beta Tau Delta has been raising funds to benefit area children for 97 years.
