ADMADM’s boys and girls soccer teams each picked up conference wins last night.

Starting with the boys, the Tigers defeated Ballard 6-3 on the road last night.  ADM is now 5-4 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.

According to the scoring summary from head coach Bill Shields, the Tigers started strongly and were two goals up within the opening ten minutes.  ADM then took that comfortable 2-0 lead into halftime.  However, Ballard came out firing after intermission, scoring 20 seconds into the second half.  Then two minutes later, the Tigers quickly restored their two goal lead when Derek Gushiken cleverly slipped the ball between two defenders and into the path of Jake Hutzell’s run.  Jake swiftly tucked the ball into the corner of the net.

Just a few minutes later though, two more defensive slip ups from ADM meant that mid way through the second half the game was tied 3-3.

As the game wore on the Tigers dominated possession and eventually wore down the Ballard defense.  Noah Bardwell, Robby Sloss and Johnny Reel all etched their names in the scoring column in the latter stages of the second half to secure the Tigers’ win.   Soccer ball

The ADM/Van Meter girls had one of their first real tests of the season last night, but they found a way to come out on top of conference foe Bondurant-Farrar 2-1.

According to the scoring summary of head coach Kelsey Dolder, the Tigers struck early in the first half when Caroline Maher (VM) delivered a well placed pass to Sydney Bertman deep in the Bluejay penalty area, who then tapped the ball into the corner past the outstretched arms of the B-F goalie.

The Tigers held off several spirited attacks to maintain a 1-0 halftime lead.

The Tigers then extended their lead early in the second half when Allie Cook lofted a soaring ball over the penalty area to Maher, who drilled a shot past the Bluejay keeper less than two minutes into the half.

Bondurant-Farrar couldn’t be kept from scoring entirely last , as the Bluejays notched a goal with 25 minutes remaining and mounted several strong attacks thereafter.  ,

That single goal is all ADM keeper Abby Daley (VM) would allow though, and the Tigers held on to win to keep their unblemished record alive.  They are now 4-0 on the young season.
