The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.
The Board heard an update of the City of Jefferson from City Administrator Mike Palmer. He told the Board that the bronze plaques from Jefferson Matters: Main Street are getting installed at the alleyway entrances around the downtown square. He also said that the iron-wing fences will be put up at each alleyway to block vehicles from accessing them and four bike racks have been ordered and will be put by each intersection of the square later this year.
Palmer reported that about half of the water lines have been put in by King Construction to prepare for Hy-Vee Incorporated to start their construction that is slated for this fall and they are still looking at design options for a new animal shelter.
The Board then reviewed the Master Matrix for Greene Valley Incorporated’s hog expansion project with Jay Ostrander. County Zoning and Sanitation Tim Healy said the Iowa Department of Natural Resources requires a minimum score of 440 up to a maximum of 880 to qualify for any hog facility before it can expand. He reported that the matrix score was 480. No other comments were made and a public hearing for the expansion will be held at Monday, April 21st regular meeting at 9am.
The Board approved a resolution to transfer $480,000 of rural funding to the secondary roads department.
