Even though the remnants of winter were felt this last weekend, sooner or later consistent warmer temperatures will be here which means the Greene County Farmer’s Market will be starting soon.
Greene County Chamber Director Chris Henning says this year’s farmer’s market will be from June 3rd through October 14th on Tuesdays from 4-6:30pm on the eastside of the courthouse in downtown Jefferson.
Normally, the farmer’s market ends before October, but Henning explains why they chose to extend the weekly event.
“That’s a couple of weeks longer than usual because last year we had people who had some really cool produce and we didn’t get to sell it and we don’t want any of that great local food going to waste.”
An initial meeting is planned for tonight at 5:30pm in the lower-level of the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson for all potential vendors and food providers.
