ADM’s boys and girls golf teams were supposed to duke it out against Winterset in a head-to-head conference dual meet last night, but unfortunately for the Tigers, snow flurries didn’t allow that to happen.
Still though, head coach Cris Goodale’s teams are off to great starts to begin the season, and we’ve got some results from recent meets to share.
In a triangle meet last Thursday, the ADM boys defeated Madrid and Woodward-Granger with a low team score of 158. Meet medalist was Joe Vest of ADM, who shot two-over par 37 for the nine-hole meet. The Tigers’ Ben Sandquist and Brody Boston tied for runner-up honors by shooting a pair of 38s. Freshman Jake Schumaker provided ADM’s fourth score with a 45.
Coach Goodale says he’s pleased with the result from the season-opener from his boys, though he would eventually like to see the Tigers’ fourth score down around 40 by season’s end.
As for the girls performance in Thursday’s triangle dual, they also picked up the “W” by shooting 197. ADM’s Taylor Boorn was the medalist with a 44, while teammate Hayley Willems was runner-up with a 47.
The Tiger girls were also in action Friday, and while they didn’t play as well, they won yet another triangle meet against the likes of Creston and Gilbert. Coach Goodale’s girls shot a combined 211 in that meet to beat Creston by seven shots at River Valley Golf Course in Adel. ADM’s Lexi Owen was medalist in the meet, shooting a 45.
Weather permitting, the ADM boys and girls will be back on the links this Thursday to match up with rival Dallas Center-Grimes. The boys will be on the road while the girls will play at River Valley.
