Everyone is invited to the free groundbreaking event for the building expansion of the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

Since the planning stages in 2008, the medical center received a $22.5 million loan from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural and Development Community Facilities Program and Home State Bank.

Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne says they plan on adding to the east of the current facility.  He states that they will be grouping all of their outpatient services together in the new wing of the medical center to better help care coordination.

He talks about his excitement for the building expansion project.

“Well I think it’s going to positively impact the medical center and patient care.  Our focus is to be always here, always caring and to ensure that we are providing the best level of service for the best outcome for our patients from start to finish of their care.”

The groundbreaking ceremony will be at 3pm on Thursday, April 3rd on the south side of the medical center with light refreshments served following the event.
