Before the main event on Saturday, April 26th, “A Token of Love” will be having a memorial walk tomorrow.
Organizer MeLinda Madison says the public is invited to join her for her walk from Scranton to Jefferson. She talks about why she is bringing back her memorial walk that she started seven years ago.
“But what I’m really doing is wanting to help raise money and show my support, my continuing support that is for donor awareness. And I’m doing it on what would have been my mom’s 61st birthday. So I’m doing it to honor her and Kurt Prescott, as well as Steven Silbaugh, Jennifer Dowd and Nicole Richardson.”
She comments that when her mother died less than a year ago, they donated her organs and Madison adds that her mom’s legacy lives on with over 120 people.
She states that there are 296 people in Greene County alone that are waiting for organ donations and of those 30 are military veterans.
Madison notes that the walk will start at 8am at 607 State Street in Scranton and she will walk along Lincoln Highway and will end at Bunker’s Dunkers in Jefferson. She says that anyone can join her and that free-will donations will be accepted.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to her cause to call her at 515-370-5256.
