golfThe temperatures are finally warm enough for ADM’s boys and girls golf teams to head outside for practice this week.  Now head coach Cris Goodale just hopes we stay dry enough for his teams to get some quality work in on the links.

With both the boys and girls’ seasons slated to begin in short order, even though they haven’t been outside working on their games, Coach Goodale says he’s actually not worried about a possible slow start for either team.

“I’m not worried about the wins and losses at the beginning of the year, it’s how we’re playing at the end.  If they come out a little sluggish here at the beginning that’s fine, they’ll battle through.  ‘Birdie balls’ (used indoors) will actually help with their transition to a real (golf) ball.  So, like I said, I’m not worried about the slowness out of the game… they know they can play, and they’ll build their confidence and be strong at the end.”

Coach Goodale wants his players peaking at the end of the year so they can hopefully make a run at qualifying for the state tournament.  He believes both teams have “great potential” entering this season, and given the success his teams have had in the past, Coach Goodale says a state run is within the realm of possibility for both squads.

Goodale’s girls get their season underway this coming weekend in a tournament at Countryside Golf Course in Norwalk.  The boys then open up play next Thursday with a dual match against Woodward-Granger.
